Choosing Between VEVOR and Ashthorpe Kits
Target Audience
VEVOR designs this set specifically for children aged 6 to 13. The smaller dimensions and lighter weight make it suitable for younger players who are just starting their musical journey. Ashthorpe targets adults and advanced musicians. Its full-size construction and heavier build cater to grown-ups who need standard drum dimensions for serious practice or performance. You should choose VEVOR if you are buying for a child. Ashthorpe is the better fit for an adult drummer who requires a standard setup.
Form Factor
VEVOR offers a 5-piece kit with a 16-inch bass drum. This compact size saves space and is easier for kids to manage. Ashthorpe provides a full-size 5-piece configuration. It features a 22-inch bass drum and standard tom sizes, including 13-inch and 12-inch mounted toms. This larger footprint mimics professional stage setups. If space is limited or you need a portable option for a child, VEVOR wins. For those who want the authentic feel of a full-sized acoustic kit, Ashthorpe is the superior choice.
Build Quality
VEVOR uses poplar shells and thickened PET drum heads. The PET material is durable and designed to withstand continuous play by kids. Ashthorpe also uses genuine poplar hardwood shells but upgrades other components. It includes premium brass cymbals and heavy-duty 2.3mm triple flanged hoops. These materials are chosen to maximize frequency response and resonance for a richer acoustic experience. Ashthorpe offers more professional-grade materials for sound quality, while VEVOR prioritizes durability for younger, rougher use.
Included Accessories
Both sets include essential accessories to start playing immediately. VEVOR provides two pairs of drumsticks and a height-adjustable throne with four levels. This adjustability helps fit growing children. Ashthorpe includes a padded throne, drumsticks, hardware, chain-driven pedals, and a drum adjustment key. Notably, Ashthorpe features genuine Remo UT-series batter heads on each drum. This is a significant advantage for sound quality. VEVOR is better for adjustability, but Ashthorpe wins for premium drumhead branding.
Weight and Size
VEVOR is significantly lighter and more compact. It weighs 37.5 pounds with dimensions of 17.7 inches wide and 21.7 inches long. This makes it easy to move and store. Ashthorpe is much heavier at 91 pounds. Its dimensions are 29 inches wide and 29 inches long. The larger size requires more floor space and is harder to transport. If you need a kit that is easy to relocate or store in a small room, VEVOR is the practical choice. Ashthorpe demands a dedicated space.
