Looking Beyond the W In-mix G7 7-Piece Drum Mic? 6 Alternatives Worth a Look

Alternatives to the W In-mix G7

Behringer BC1200 7-Piece Drum Microphone Set

The Behringer BC1200 is a 7-piece set in black, matching the W In-mix G7 in piece count but differing in physical presence. It weighs 5.45 pounds and measures 18 inches long, 13.9 inches wide, and 5.2 inches high. While the W In-mix G7 emphasizes all-metal construction and supercardioid isolation for rugged touring, the Behringer offers a standard configuration for general recording. You should choose the Behringer if you prioritize a dedicated kick mic and full coverage without needing the specific ruggedized metal housing of the G7. It provides a complete audio solution for players who need standard seven-mic coverage for their drum kit.

TAKSTAR DMS-D7 7-Piece Drum Microphone Kit

The TAKSTAR DMS-D7 is a 7-piece kit in black, sharing the piece count with the W In-mix G7 but focusing on a specialized mix of dynamic and condenser microphones. It comes in a portable case, which contrasts with the G7’s focus on individual rugged metal construction. The TAKSTAR model is designed for clear recording of bass drums, toms, and cymbals. You might prefer this alternative if you need a specialized setup for performance contexts where portability is key. It provides a solid choice for drummers who want dedicated mics for each component in a contained, easy-to-transport package rather than the road-ready durability emphasized by the W In-mix G7.

Donner DED-200 MAX Electronic Drum Set

The Donner DED-200 MAX is a 59-pound electronic drum set in black, a completely different category from the acoustic W In-mix G7 mics. It features dual-ply mesh heads and 450 sounds, along with an included throne. This kit is designed for home drummers wanting an all-inclusive mesh setup. You should pick this alternative if you want to practice silently or use electronic triggers instead of recording acoustic drums with microphones. It gives up the acoustic capture and XLR connectivity of the G7 but provides a full hardware package with integrated sound modules for home practice without the need for external recording gear.

VEVOR 5-Piece 14 in Kids Drum Set

The VEVOR 5-Piece 14-inch Kids Drum Set is an acoustic kit for young beginners aged 6 to 13. It weighs 26.5 pounds and measures 18.9 inches long, 15 inches wide, and 15 inches high. It includes sticks and features warm wood tones. This is a practical option for children, unlike the professional-grade W In-mix G7 mics. You should choose this if you need a compact, adjustable setup for a child rather than studio equipment. It gives up the professional isolation and metal construction of the G7 but offers an age-appropriate acoustic instrument for early learning and development in a smaller, safer form factor.

KEYIVOX 9pc Electric Drum Set with Mesh Pads

The KEYIVOX MTC20 is a 9-piece electronic drum set with mesh pads, weighing 26.5 pounds and measuring 27.8 inches long. It offers 150 sounds and USB MIDI connectivity. This kit is designed for silent home practice and MIDI recording. You should pick this alternative if you need a quiet practice solution for adults rather than acoustic microphones. It provides a complete, compact practice solution with an all-in-one design. Unlike the W In-mix G7, it does not record acoustic sound but instead generates electronic tones via MIDI, making it ideal for apartment living or late-night practice sessions.

Umelody UED-60 Compact Kids Electronic Drum Set

The Umelody UED-60 is a compact electronic drum set for kids and beginners, weighing only 13.2 pounds. It measures 26.4 inches long, 11.4 inches wide, and 8.27 inches high. It features USB MIDI connectivity and low-volume practice cymbals. This mini kit is a practical starter tool for children in small spaces. You should choose this if you need a quiet, connected practice tool for a young player. It differs from the W In-mix G7 by being an electronic system rather than acoustic microphones. It gives up professional recording capabilities but offers a small footprint and quiet operation suitable for home use by beginners.
