Comparing Sabian XSR and AAX Sets
cymbal count
The Sabian AAX Natural Cymbal Set includes four cymbals in its configuration. You get 14" hats, a 16" crash, a 21" ride, and an additional 18" crash. This gives you more pieces to build your kit. The Sabian XSR Super Cymbal Set contains only three cymbals. It provides 14" hats and two 18" fast crashes, along with a 16" crash. You have fewer total pieces with the XSR set. If you want more individual cymbals for your setup, the AAX set offers a higher count. The XSR set focuses on a smaller, more compact collection.
included accessories
Both sets include the same digital accessory. Each purchase comes with a 90-Day Drumeo Trial. This trial allows you to access online drum lessons and resources. The terms apply to both products equally. Neither set includes physical accessories like bags, mallets, or stands in the standard package. The digital value is identical for both options. You receive the same educational support regardless of which cymbal set you choose. This aspect does not differentiate the two products, as the inclusion is standard for Sabian cymbal packs.
build
The Sabian XSR Super Cymbal Set has a specified weight of 20 pounds. It also has dimensions of 21.5 inches in width and 20.3 inches in height. The Sabian AAX Natural Cymbal Set lists a weight of only 1 pound. This discrepancy in the AAX data suggests the weight might refer to packaging or a specific component rather than the total set. The AAX set has dimensions of 22.3 inches in width and 22.3 inches in length. The XSR set appears significantly heavier based on the provided specs. This weight difference may indicate different packaging methods or material density.
cymbal features

The AAX set features a 16" thin crash and a 20" medium ride. It also includes 14" medium hi-hats. The AAX configuration provides a medium ride, which is absent in the XSR set. target audience
The XSR set is designed to fit your cymbal budget. It is not a budget series but a line for specific financial planning. It offers quality protected by a two-year warranty. The AAX set is part of Sabian's higher-end AAX line. It includes a free 18" thin crash, suggesting a promotional or value-added approach. The AAX set targets players seeking a more complete kit with a ride cymbal. The XSR set targets players who want a core crash and hat setup.
