Sabian vs Arborea Cymbal Specs
Target audience
The Sabian B8X Performance Set targets drummers seeking traditional tone and professional performance. Its bronze construction and standard sizes cater to players who want authentic sound characteristics. In contrast, the Arborea 5-Piece Low Volume Cymbal Set is designed for beginners and practice. It explicitly targets users needing quiet operation in apartments or bedrooms. The Arborea pack emphasizes reducing ear fatigue and preventing complaints from neighbors, making it suitable for those prioritizing discretion over acoustic projection. You choose Sabian for tone quality and Arborea for volume control.
Cymbal count
You get a clear difference in piece count between these two packs. The Arborea set includes five pieces: two 14-inch hi-hats, one 16-inch crash, one 18-inch crash, and one 20-inch ride. This complete five-piece configuration allows for a standard drum kit setup. The Sabian B8X Performance Set Plus lists four specific items: 14-inch hi-hats, a 16-inch thin crash, a 20-inch ride, and a free 18-inch thin crash. While both provide the essential components for a kit, the Arborea pack explicitly counts five pieces in its attributes, whereas the Sabian pack highlights its bonus 18-inch crash as part of a four-item core package.
Build material
Material choice significantly impacts sound and weight. The Sabian B8X Performance Set is made of bronze, a traditional alloy known for producing rich, complex tones and responsive stick rebound. This material aligns with its Performance classification. The Arborea 5-Piece Low Volume Cymbal Set uses high-quality stainless steel. This material choice supports its low-volume function, as steel cymbals with specific thicknesses dampen sound more effectively than bronze. The stainless steel construction also contributes to the durability and smooth surface finish described for the Arborea pack. You get acoustic warmth from Sabian's bronze and practical durability from Arborea's steel.
Included accessories
Extra value comes in different forms for each brand. The Sabian B8X Performance Set Plus includes a 90-Day Drumeo Trial. This digital accessory provides online drum lessons and practice tools, adding educational value to the physical hardware. The Arborea 5-Piece Low Volume Cymbal Set does not list any digital or educational inclusions in its specifications. Its value proposition focuses entirely on the physical cymbals themselves. If you want practice resources alongside your hardware, the Sabian offer includes this trial. If you prefer just the hardware without subscription requirements, the Arborea pack keeps it simple.
Weight
Weight affects portability and mounting stability. The Sabian B8X Performance Set Plus weighs 16.9 pounds. This heier weight is consistent with solid bronze cymbals, which often provide a more substantial feel and stable mounting on stands. The Arborea 5-Piece Low Volume Cymbal Set weighs 10.3 pounds. This lighter weight is typical for low-volume cymbals, which may use thinner profiles or different metal densities to reduce acoustic output. The lighter Arborea set might be easier to transport for practice sessions. The heavier Sabian set likely offers more stability for vigorous playing. You trade portability for traditional feel with Sabian.
