How these options differ
VEVOR 5-Piece 14 in Kids Drum Set
The VEVOR 5-Piece set replaces the sensor-based air drumming of the MindWare with a traditional acoustic layout. It includes a 14-inch snare and cymbals, offering a realistic physical experience rather than simulated movements. This kit is significantly heavier at 26.5 pounds, making it less portable than the 1.95-pound MindWare option. It targets young beginners who want a full drum kit feel. You get sticks and a seat, but no Bluetooth connectivity or electronic features. Choose this if you prefer physical pads and acoustic sounds over quiet, wireless play.
Umelody UED-60 Compact Kids Electronic Drum Set
The Umelody UED-60 is a compact electronic set designed for small spaces. Unlike the MindWare’s pad-free design, it uses physical mesh pads for striking. It weighs 13.2 pounds, which is heavier than the MindWare but still manageable. This kit includes USB MIDI connectivity, allowing you to connect to learning software, whereas the MindWare relies on Bluetooth audio pairing. It targets beginners and kids who need a complete electronic package. You get a full set of pads and cymbals, but you lose the unique portable, sensor-based air drumming experience found in the original.
Xkorce 8-Piece Mesh Electronic Drum Set
The Xkorce 8-Piece Mesh Kit offers a comprehensive layout with four mesh pads and low-volume cymbals. It provides 360 sounds and Bluetooth connectivity, similar to the MindWare’s wireless feature but with traditional striking surfaces. This kit is designed for beginners wanting a full electronic experience. It lacks the portability of the MindWare, which weighs just 1.95 pounds. The Xkorce focuses on realistic mesh feedback and quiet operation. You get a more substantial drumming setup, but you give up the unique sensor-based air drumming mechanic and the compact, travel-friendly design of the original.
AROMA TDX-18 4-Pad Mesh Portable Drum Set
The AROMA TDX-18 is a portable electronic drum set with a mesh snare and low-volume cymbals. It weighs 37.5 pounds, making it much heavier and less portable than the 1.95-pound MindWare kit. It features Bluetooth connectivity for audio playback, similar to the MindWare. This kit targets beginners needing a quiet practice tool with physical pads. You get a traditional drumming layout, but you lose the unique air-drumming sensor technology. Choose this if you prefer a compact electronic kit with mesh heads over the innovative, pad-free design of the MindWare option.
Surundo K10 Air Drum Sticks with Bluetooth
The Surundo K10 Air Drum Sticks offer a similar air-drumming concept to the MindWare but target beginners, adults, and kids. It features built-in audio and visual feedback, reducing the need for external speakers. The sticks use carbon fiber material, differing from the MindWare’s standard construction. It connects via Bluetooth for app guidance. This option is best for quiet, app-driven practice. You get a similar sensor-based experience, but the Surundo focuses on adult and beginner users rather than young children. It lacks the included dynamic speaker and foot sensors found in the MindWare package.
Alesis Nitro Max 8-Piece Mesh Kit with Sticks
The Alesis Nitro Max is an 8-piece mesh electronic kit with Bluetooth and USB MIDI connectivity. It provides a full drumming layout with mesh heads, unlike the MindWare’s pad-free design. This kit targets players wanting a realistic feel and extensive sounds. It is significantly larger and heavier than the 1.95-pound MindWare option. You get a comprehensive electronic setup with low-volume cymbals, but you lose the unique portable, sensor-based air drumming mechanic. Choose this if you want a traditional electronic drum experience with mesh feedback rather than a quiet, travel-friendly air drumming kit.
