6 Best Alternatives to the HAMPBACK MK-0 Electric Drum Set (2026)

How alternatives compare to HAMPBACK MK-0

HAMPBACK MK-0 Mesh Pad Electronic Drum Set

This HAMPBACK variant is nearly identical to the original MK-0. It shares the same compact form factor and target audience of beginners and kids. The main difference is the listed weight of 19.8 pounds, which confirms its portability. You get the same USB MIDI connectivity and low-volume cymbals. It includes sticks just like the base model. This option is best if you find it at a different price point or prefer this specific color variant. It does not add new features like extra sounds or larger pads. It remains a space-saving choice for small rooms. If you want the exact same experience, this is a direct substitute.

Umelody UED-60 Compact Kids Electronic Drum Set

The Umelody UED-60 is significantly smaller than the HAMPBACK MK-0. It weighs only 13.2 pounds and measures just 26.4 inches in length. This mini design is ideal for children or very tight spaces. However, it gives up the full rack structure of the MK-0. You get fewer physical dimensions for your setup. It still offers USB MIDI connectivity and low-volume practice cymbals. The compact size makes it easier to store under a desk. It is not suitable for adults who need standard playing positions. Choose this if your priority is minimal footprint over pad size. It sacrifices some stability for extreme portability. The target audience remains young beginners seeking a quiet starter kit.

AiJoy ADD50 4-Pad Mesh Electronic Drum Set

The AiJoy ADD50 offers a larger footprint with dimensions of 43.3 inches in length. It weighs 28.7 pounds, making it heavier and less portable than the 19.8-pound HAMPBACK. It retains the 4-pad mesh configuration and USB MIDI connectivity. A key upgrade is the choke cymbal feature, which the MK-0 lacks. This allows for more expressive cymbal control. It is better for players who want realistic cymbal response. However, it takes up more floor space. The rack is not described as foldable like the MK-0. It suits beginners who prioritize play features over easy transport. You gain cymbal choke capability but lose some compact convenience.

Donner DED-70 7-Piece Mesh Electronic Drum Set

The Donner DED-70 provides a larger sound library with 150 sounds, compared to the MK-0's 68. It weighs 21 pounds, slightly heavier than the HAMPBACK. It maintains the 4-pad mesh setup and USB MIDI connectivity. This kit is ideal for young beginners who need more variety in practice sounds. It offers an adjustable, portable frame similar to the MK-0. However, it does not mention power bank compatibility or a foldable rack. You get more sonic options but fewer portability features. It is a practical entry-level kit for learning rhythm basics. Choose this if sound variety is more important than ultra-compact storage. It fits small spaces but lacks the specific travel-friendly design of the original.

AODSK AED-403 Portable Mesh Electronic Drum Set

The AODSK AED-403 is a complete kit with a white and black color scheme. It weighs 28.7 pounds, which is heavier than the HAMPBACK MK-0. It features USB MIDI connectivity and low-volume cymbals. The design is described as foldable and compact, similar to the MK-0. It includes sticks and is aimed at beginners. It offers a solid choice for home practice without extra setup steps. However, it lacks the specific power bank compatibility mentioned for the MK-0. It is best for users who need a quiet, complete kit for stationary practice. You get a similar portability level but with a different aesthetic. It is a practical alternative for those who prefer a different color or brand.

LEKATO CPD-1000 Portable Mesh Electronic Drum Set

The LEKATO CPD-1000 is extremely compact, measuring only 19.7 inches in length. It weighs just 14 pounds, making it the lightest option here. It offers USB MIDI connectivity and low-volume cymbals. It includes USB recording options, which the MK-0 does not specify. It is ideal for beginners needing a quiet, compact practice tool. However, it has small pedals, which may not suit all players. It lacks the full rack structure of the MK-0. This kit is best for users with very limited space. You gain recording capabilities but lose some standard pedal size. It is a practical choice for small rooms but sacrifices some ergonomic features for size.
