YAMAHA DTX452K Electronic Drum Set Alternatives: 6 Similar Picks Compared

How these alternatives compare

Donner DED-70 7-Piece Mesh Electronic Drum Set

The Donner DED-70 focuses on a four-pad layout, which is simpler than the Yamaha DTX452K’s expanded configuration. It offers 150 sounds compared to the Yamaha’s 415, so the sound library is more limited. The mesh pads provide a quieter practice experience, similar to the Yamaha’s low-volume design. This kit weighs 21 pounds, making it lighter and easier to move than the Yamaha’s foldable rack. It targets young beginners who need a compact, space-saving solution. If you prioritize portability and a minimal setup over a large sound library, this is a practical choice. It includes sticks and uses USB MIDI for connectivity.

Donner DED-200 Mesh Electronic Drum Set

The Donner DED-200 expands on the Yamaha’s base with five pads and three cymbals, including choke capabilities. It provides 450 sounds, slightly more than the Yamaha’s 415. The dual-zone snare offers more dynamic range than the Yamaha’s three-zone pad. This kit weighs 53.6 pounds, making it significantly heavier and less portable than the Yamaha’s lightweight, foldable rack. It is designed for home practice rather than frequent transport. The inclusion of choke cymbals allows for more expressive playing. If you want a complete mesh kit with a broader layout and do not need to carry it often, this option offers more hardware for the same connectivity options.

KEYIVOX 9pc Electric Drum Set with Mesh Pads

The KEYIVOX MTC20 is a compact mesh kit with 150 sounds, which is less than the Yamaha’s 415. It features a smaller footprint, measuring 19.7 by 27.8 inches, compared to the Yamaha’s 31 by 39 inches. Weighing 26.5 pounds, it is lighter than the Yamaha’s rack but lacks the foldable design. It targets adults who need a complete, quiet practice setup. The USB MIDI connectivity matches the Yamaha, allowing for DAW integration. If you need a smaller physical footprint and do not require the Yamaha’s extensive sound library or training tools, this kit provides a straightforward, budget-friendly alternative with similar core connectivity.

Donner DED-200X Mesh Electronic Drum Set

The Donner DED-200X offers five pads and four cymbals, providing a more extensive layout than the Yamaha DTX452K. It includes 450 sounds, slightly exceeding the Yamaha’s 415. The choke cymbals add expressive control not present in the Yamaha’s standard cymbal setup. However, it weighs 54.7 pounds, making it much heavier and less portable than the Yamaha’s foldable rack. It is designed for stationary home use. The USB MIDI connectivity is the same. If you prioritize a larger pad count and cymbal expressiveness over portability, this kit offers a more comprehensive hardware setup for home practice.

Umelody UED-60 Compact Kids Electronic Drum Set

The Umelody UED-60 is a mini-sized kit designed specifically for kids and young beginners. It offers only 56 sounds, far fewer than the Yamaha’s 415. The compact dimensions of 11.4 by 26.4 inches make it much smaller than the Yamaha’s rack. Weighing 13.2 pounds, it is significantly lighter and easier for children to handle. It includes sticks and uses USB MIDI for connectivity. The low-volume cymbals ensure quiet practice. If you are buying for a child who needs a small, manageable drum set with basic features, this option is tailored for that specific audience, whereas the Yamaha is better suited for older beginners.

LEKATO CPD-1000 Portable Mesh Electronic Drum Set

The LEKATO CPD-1000 is a portable mesh kit with 220 sounds, which is less than the Yamaha’s 415. It measures 18.1 by 19.7 inches, offering a smaller footprint than the Yamaha’s 31 by 39 inches. Weighing 14 pounds, it is lighter and more compact than the Yamaha’s foldable rack. It targets beginners who need a quiet, portable setup. The USB MIDI connectivity matches the Yamaha. However, it may require an additional kick pad for a complete experience. If you prioritize extreme portability and a small size over a large sound library, this kit is a practical choice for small spaces.
