You might be looking for toca percussion kickboxx suitcase drum alternatives because the original model prioritizes extreme portability over electronic features. The Toca TKSDS Compact Suitcase Drum measures 18.5 inches wide and weighs just 20 pounds. It is designed for street performers who need a compact footprint. However, you may want electronic pads, more sounds, or a different form factor. The Toca unit does not include a bass drum pedal or internal speakers. It is a manual acoustic set in a carrying case.
The 6 options on this list were chosen because their specifications overlap with your needs for portability or space-saving design. Some alternatives offer mesh pads for quieter practice in small apartments. Others provide full electronic kits with USB MIDI connectivity. You can find kits with different pad counts, from four to five pads. The list includes options for beginners, kids, and those wanting a complete mesh setup. Each product here shares traits like compact dimensions or specific target audiences, giving you a range of practical choices based on your exact requirements.
How each alternative compares
Donner DED-80 Mesh Electronic Drum Set
The Donner DED-80 is an electronic kit rather than a portable acoustic case. It measures 28.1 inches long and weighs 26.5 pounds, making it larger and heavier than the 20-pound Toca. You get four mesh pads and low-volume cymbals for quiet practice. The Toca offers true portability for street performance, while this kit stays in one spot. Choose the Donner if you need a stationary setup for small apartments. You sacrifice the suitcase form factor for dedicated electronic drumming features and included sticks.
Donner DED-70 7-Piece Mesh Electronic Drum Set
This Donner model provides 150 sounds and USB MIDI connectivity, which the acoustic Toca lacks entirely. It weighs 21 pounds, nearly identical to the Toca's 20 pounds, but it is not a compact suitcase. The kit includes sticks and targets young beginners. The Toca is built for outdoor mobility and street performers. You trade the portable suitcase design for digital sound variety and learning tools. Pick this option if you prioritize quiet home practice and electronic features over the ability to carry your drums in a single case.
Donner DED-200 Mesh Electronic Drum Set
The Donner DED-200 is a full mesh electronic kit with five pads and three cymbals. It weighs 53.6 pounds, significantly heavier than the lightweight Toca suitcase. The Toca is designed for portability and small shows. This kit offers 450 sounds and choke cymbals for expressive playing. You gain a complete, stable electronic setup but lose extreme portability. Choose the DED-200 if you want a robust practice kit with a throne. You give up the ability to transport your drums easily in a compact, wheeled case.
Donner DED-70SE Kids Electronic Drum Set
The Donner DED-70SE is an adjustable electronic kit for children aged 6 to 14. It weighs 20 pounds like the Toca but measures 41.7 inches long, making it much larger in footprint. The Toca is a compact acoustic suitcase for street performers. This kit offers silicone pads for durability and quiet practice. You trade the portable suitcase design for a stationary, adjustable electronic setup. Select this option if you need a space-saving kit for a child. You sacrifice the mobility and acoustic nature of the Toca for electronic playability.
VEVOR 5-Piece 16 in Kids Drum Set
The VEVOR 5-Piece Kids Drum Set is a traditional acoustic kit with wooden shells. It weighs 37.5 pounds, heavier than the 20-pound Toca. The Toca is a compact suitcase for portability. This kit offers a full five-piece setup with starter cymbals for young beginners. You gain a standard drum kit experience but lose the compact suitcase form factor. Choose the VEVOR if you want a full acoustic setup for home use. You give up the extreme portability and street performance focus of the Toca model.
AODSK AED-403pro Mesh Electronic Drum Set
The AODSK AED-403pro is an electronic kit with 260 sounds and mesh pads. It weighs 27 pounds and measures 70 inches long, making it much larger than the Toca. The Toca is a 20-pound portable acoustic case. This kit includes headphones and sticks for immediate use. You trade the compact suitcase design for a comprehensive electronic package. Pick the AODSK if you want a ready-to-play electronic kit for quiet practice. You sacrifice the portability and acoustic nature of the Toca for digital features and included accessories.
