The Music Alley 3-Piece Kids Drum Set gives you a scaled-down junior kit built from wood and metal with tunable heads. If you want other options, this guide covers music alley 3 piece kids drum alternatives to suit your space. The original kit includes a bass drum, snare, tom, cymbal, bass pedal, drum throne, and sticks. At 16.1 pounds with measurements of 29.5 by 25.6 by 25.6 inches, it provides a compact footprint for young beginners.
You might still want different specifications for your home setup. Some players require a larger 5-piece layout with a floor tom and hi-hat, while others need an electronic kit with mesh pads and USB MIDI connectivity. You may also prefer alternative dimensions, a lighter 14-pound kit, or different colors like pink and natural. The 6 alternatives on this list were chosen because their specifications overlap with the original, offering starter-scaled parts and included sticks so you can find the right match.
Comparing the Music Alley Alternatives
Pyle 3-Piece Junior Kids Drum Set
The Pyle 3-Piece Junior Kids Drum Set matches the Music Alley kit with a three-piece acoustic layout and included drumsticks. It adds silencing pads, which help dampen acoustic volume during practice sessions. Pyle lists a smaller footprint at 15.5 inches wide, 18.8 inches high, and 14 inches long, compared to the Music Alley dimensions of 29.5 by 25.6 by 25.6 inches. However, Pyle weighs more at 18.1 pounds compared to the 16.1-pound Music Alley set. You also get a single Natural finish instead of the metallic blue, red, or black options available with Music Alley. Choose Pyle if you need included silencing pads and a tighter physical profile.
Gammon 3-Piece Kids Drum Set, Pink
The Gammon 3-Piece Kids Drum Set shares the beginner three-piece acoustic design, throne, and sticks found on the Music Alley kit. Gammon is lighter, weighing 14 pounds compared to the 16.1 pounds of the Music Alley model. Its frame measures 24 inches wide, 25 inches high, and 30 inches long, trading some width for extra length compared to Music Alley's 29.5 by 25.6 by 25.6 inch footprint. While Music Alley lets you select between metallic blue, red, and black, this Gammon model comes strictly in pink. Pick the Gammon drum set if you want a lighter acoustic kit and prefer a pink finish for your beginner.
VEVOR 5-Piece 16 in Kids Drum Set
The VEVOR 16 in Kids Drum Set expands on the Music Alley kit by providing a full five-piece setup instead of three pieces. This gives you extra components like a floor tom, a hi-hat, starter cymbals, and a height-adjustable throne. The trade-off comes in weight and portability. VEVOR weighs 37.5 pounds, which is more than double the 16.1-pound Music Alley kit. Its listed dimensions are 17.7 inches wide, 15.8 inches high, and 21.7 inches long. It targets players ages 6 to 13 who need more pieces to play. Choose VEVOR if you want a complete five-piece acoustic kit with an adjustable seat rather than a compact three-piece starter.
HAMPBACK MK-0 PRO Portable Mesh Electronic Drum Set
The HAMPBACK MK-0 PRO diverges from the Music Alley kit by offering an electronic design instead of acoustic wood and metal shells. It features mesh pads and digital connectivity, including USB MIDI, standard MIDI, and USB ports. This electronic layout enables quiet practice sessions that the acoustic Music Alley set cannot deliver without add-on dampening. You give up the natural acoustic resonance and tunable mechanical drum heads of the Music Alley. The MK-0 PRO also weighs considerably more at 38.3 pounds versus 16.1 pounds. Select the HAMPBACK MK-0 PRO if you need USB MIDI connectivity and the lower acoustic noise of mesh electronic pads.
NUOSHENG 16 in 5-Piece Kids Drum Set
The NUOSHENG 16 in Kids Drum Set offers young beginners a five-piece layout with wood shells, starter cymbals, sticks, and adjustable seating. Compared to the three-piece Music Alley kit, NUOSHENG provides two additional drums to give beginners a broader acoustic range. It comes in a red finish, contrasting with the metallic blue base color of the Music Alley model. What you trade off is the known compact footprint and published 16.1-pound weight of the Music Alley, which specifically fits small bedrooms and playrooms. Choose the NUOSHENG set if you want a complete five-piece acoustic layout and an adjustable seat in red.
Best Choice Products 5-Piece Kids Drum Set
The Best Choice Products Kids Drum Set expands your drumming setup to a full five-piece kit with wood shells, sticks, a starter cymbal, and a glossy black finish. This expands beyond the three-piece configuration of the Music Alley kit. However, Best Choice Products demands more floor space and effort to move. It stands 33 inches high with a length of 22 inches and width of 16 inches, compared to Music Alley's 25.6-inch height. At 45 pounds, it is nearly three times heavier than the 16.1-pound Music Alley kit. Pick Best Choice Products if you want a substantial, five-piece acoustic drum set in black for a young beginner.

Frequently asked questions
Which alternatives offer more drum pieces than the Music Alley kit?
You can choose 5-piece acoustic models like the VEVOR 5-Piece 16 in Kids Drum Set, the NUOSHENG 16 in 5-Piece, or the Best Choice Products 5-Piece set. These options expand your setup beyond three pieces. VEVOR includes a floor tom and hi-hat, while NUOSHENG and Best Choice Products provide starter cymbals and wood shells for broader practice.
Is there an electronic alternative to the Music Alley 3-piece drum set?
Yes, the HAMPBACK MK-0 PRO Portable Mesh Electronic Drum Set provides a digital option. It replaces acoustic drum heads with mesh pads designed for quiet practicing. This set also features USB MIDI connectivity, allowing you to connect to external devices. At 38.3 pounds, it includes sticks and serves beginners who need a compact electronic layout.
What is the lightest acoustic alternative on this list?
The Gammon 3-Piece Kids Drum Set is the lightest option at 14 pounds. By comparison, the Music Alley set weighs 16.1 pounds, and the Pyle 3-piece kit weighs 18.1 pounds. Gammon features a pink finish, includes drumsticks and a throne, and measures 30 inches long, 24 inches wide, and 25 inches high for easy placement in small rooms.
Which kids drum kits come with an adjustable seat?
The VEVOR 5-Piece 16 in Kids Drum Set and the NUOSHENG 16 in 5-Piece Drum Set both include adjustable seating. VEVOR specifies an adjustable throne designed for kids ages 6 to 13. NUOSHENG provides an adjustable seat alongside its full five-piece wood shell setup. These hardware additions allow you to adjust the playing height as your young drummer grows.
Do these alternative drum sets come with drumsticks included?
Yes, every alternative on this list includes drumsticks in the package. Whether you select a three-piece acoustic model from Pyle or Gammon, a five-piece kit from VEVOR, NUOSHENG, or Best Choice Products, or the electronic HAMPBACK MK-0 PRO, sticks are standard. You will not need to buy drumsticks separately to start playing right away.
How much space do 5-piece junior drum sets require compared to 3-piece sets?
Five-piece sets generally require more floor area because they feature additional drums and hardware. For instance, the Best Choice Products 5-Piece kit stands 33 inches high and weighs 45 pounds. In contrast, the Gammon 3-Piece set stands 25 inches high and weighs 14 pounds. You should measure your room to ensure enough clearance for extra cymbals and stands.
How do you choose between an acoustic kit and a mesh electronic drum set?
You should choose based on volume control and space needs. Acoustic kits like the VEVOR 5-piece or Pyle 3-piece produce natural sound directly from physical drum heads. The HAMPBACK MK-0 PRO electronic kit uses mesh pads to minimize acoustic volume and offers USB MIDI connectivity. If you require quiet practice in tight quarters, mesh electronic pads provide that advantage.
