Comparing Full Size Drum Kit Alternatives
VEVOR 5-Piece 22 in Full Size Drum Set
The VEVOR 5-Piece 22 in Full Size Drum Set provides a complete 5-piece poplar configuration like the Gammon set, including a 22-inch bass drum, cymbals, an adjustable throne, and drumsticks. It is lighter than the Gammon kit, weighing 62.8 pounds compared to Gammon's 84.4 pounds. Its packaged dimensions of 22.8 by 22.4 by 22.8 inches are also more compact than Gammon's 30.3 by 24 by 22.1 inches. However, you give up the specific drum shell depth specs and chrome hardware details documented on the Gammon model. You should choose the VEVOR kit if you want a lighter full-size adult kit that is easier to move into your practice space.
Ktaxon 22 Inch 5-Piece Full Size Drum Set
The Ktaxon 22 Inch 5-Piece Full Size Drum Set features poplar shells like the Gammon kit, but it specifies double-thickened drum heads for its setup. Its package dimensions measure 23 by 22 by 23 inches, which occupies less space than Gammon's 30.3-inch length and 24-inch width. In exchange, the Ktaxon listing does not state individual tom depths, cymbal sizes, or an overall shipping weight, whereas Gammon details its 12-inch, 13-inch, and 16-inch toms and 84.4-pound weight. You should choose the Ktaxon model if you prefer poplar shells paired with double-thickened heads and want a full-size adult kit with a smaller package footprint.
Ashthorpe 5-Piece Full Size Adult Drum Set with Remo Heads
The Ashthorpe 5-Piece Full Size Adult Drum Set upgrades your setup by including genuine Remo batter heads directly on the drums, which Gammon does not provide. It is heavier than the Gammon set, weighing 91 pounds compared to Gammon's 84.4 pounds. It also has a larger box footprint at 29 by 20 by 29 inches versus Gammon's 30.3 by 24 by 22.1 inches. However, Ashthorpe does not document individual tom depths or explicit cymbal diameters in its core specifications. You should pick the Ashthorpe set if you prioritize brand-name Remo drum heads on a full-size acoustic frame and do not mind managing a heavier 91-pound build.
Best Choice Products 5-Piece Full Size Adult Drum Set
The Best Choice Products 5-Piece Full Size Adult Drum Set comes in a Natural Woodgrain finish, offering an organic appearance compared to Gammon's high-gloss black finish. At 77 pounds, it is lighter than the 84.4-pound Gammon kit, and its package height of 16.5 inches is noticeably lower than Gammon's 22.1 inches. Both sets include drumsticks and 5-piece full-size hardware. What you give up is Gammon's defined poplar shell wood and specific cymbal dimensions, including its 12-inch hi-hats and 14-inch crash/ride. You should pick the Best Choice Products set if you prefer a natural woodgrain look over solid black and want a slightly lighter overall kit.
Donner DDS-520 5-Piece 22-Inch Acoustic Drum Kit
The Donner DDS-520 5-Piece 22-Inch Acoustic Drum Kit includes dedicated practice pads and practice-type cymbals to support quiet home practice. It also specifies 9mm poplar shells, whereas Gammon does not list shell thickness. On the other hand, the Donner kit is significantly heavier and bulkier. It weighs 99 pounds compared to Gammon's 84.4 pounds, and its dimensions span 47.2 by 39.4 by 51.2 inches compared to Gammon's 24 by 22.1 by 30.3 inches. You also do not get Gammon's chain-driven hi-hat stand specification. You should choose the Donner DDS-520 if you need built-in practice pads for quieter volume levels and have enough floor space for a larger package.
Eastar 22" 5-Piece Full Size Acoustic Drum Set
The Eastar 22" 5-Piece Full Size Acoustic Drum Set targets beginners alongside adult players, matching Gammon's 22-inch bass drum and 14-inch snare layout while including drumsticks. Eastar lists a total weight of only 11 pounds, making it far lighter than Gammon's 84.4-pound kit. Its package length of 18.9 inches is also shorter than Gammon's 30.3 inches. However, Eastar does not document individual tom shell depths, cymbal diameters, or hardwood shell species like Gammon's genuine poplar build. You should pick the Eastar kit if you want a beginner-friendly full-size drum set that has a much lighter specified shipping weight and takes up less box length during delivery.
